AccessData Mobile Forensics Training
This workshop introduces students to the legal issues, service providers and current methodologies. Hands on instruction on data extraction from mobile phone handsets, using a multitude of software to include Cellebrite, XRY, Susteen’s Secure View, MobilEdit and more! Students will learn the basics of the cellular network and will have a foundation in the history of cellular technology while gaining knowledge on processing guidelines of both handsets and SIM/USIMs.

iPhone. iPhone devices are developed by Apple and are utilised all around the world. In this online course the student will be exposed to the interface and the methods to extract the maximum data from these devices using a forensic process. We will also discuss the methods of jailbreaking and obtaining a bit by bit image of the iPhone memory as well as unlock codes. During the course the students will utilise several pieces of software in the recovery of the data from an iPhone as well as practicing the learned techniques.
Android. This course will cover the devices running the very popular Android OS. We will discuss the basic structure of the Android OS, OS Versions, Sandboxes, lock codes and more. We will cover the building of custom Android Package (apk) files using the open source tools available and an overview of the apk files themselves. During the class we will look at the currently available tools for extracting the maximum data from the many Android OS devices available on the market today. We will discuss the "rooting" of the Android device, recovery of data without "rooting" and recovering deleted data from these devices. The student will utilise serveral open source tools like database viewers, development kits, emulators as well as AccessData's MPE+ and AccessData's FTK to process extracted data from the Android devices as well as practice the new learned techniques.
MPE. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct a mobile phone investigation using FTK 3. Students will gain hands-on experience with mobile phone imaging and analysis and will also process SIM and media cards commonly associated with mobile phone investigations. Students will build specialised filters and column settings to aid in data analysis and reporting. Attendees should be familiar with the AccessData suite of tools
